Capt Matt and Capt Rodney

MEET THE OUTKASTS: When the oil and gas industry laid us off, it left only one “reel” option – offshore fishing!  We love to fish, and it shows on every trip.  While we’ve added some crew members that aren’t from the oilfield, they have that “Outkast” mentality that we do!

Owner/Captain Rodney Harper is a USCG 50 Ton Masters licensed Captain and has fished the gulf waters since he was a kid and knows them well. His passion is taking kids fishing and teaching them that there is more to life than video games and social media.  He also believes in the cohesive affect that fishing can have on corporate team building.  Rodney is also a Certified Weighmaster and Tournament Director in the State of Texas. Captain Rodney spent 16 years in the oilfield and traveled the world. While the oilfield may have let him down, the salt water never does!

Captain James “Ray” Ferris moved here because he loves fishing and the coast. James is low key and relaxed at all times. Capt. James and Capt. Rodney have been friends since they were teens as they competed in speed roller skating. No stranger to the salt as a diver and surfer, he may be taking you fishing as Captain. He’s been fishing with us since 2017.

Captain Aaron “Ay Ay Ron” Carter is back home with The Outkasts.  Aaron is another past oilfield worker who joined the team back in 2016. Aaron has built himself to be quite a versatile captain.  He is very good in deep blue water and in state waters. Capt. Rodney first met Aaron when he was 7 years old.  When Aaron was laid off from the oilfield it was a no brainer to bring him in. No doubt if you book a 5, 8, or 12 hour trip, you will likely see him as your captain. In his free time Aaron enjoys playing guitar and singing at some of our local hangouts.

Captain Eric Allenstein joined us as a First Mate but has spent plenty of time on the salt before then.  He’s put in his time, completed the training in 2020, and is now a 50 Ton Masters Captain.  He won’t be a full-time Outkast just yet; the oilfield is still keeping him employed on a 14/7 rotation. In his spare time, Eric enjoys taking his son fishing and throwing some of the best seafood boils in the area. He is also a past semi-pro ice hockey player! Eric is quite an accomplished bay and nearshore fishing captain, and has paid his dues on many an offshore trophy hunt.

Capt David Burton has been with us full time for a couple of years now. Although he isn’t an oilfield brother, he does have a salty Navy background, so an Outkast he be!  He’s done his time as deckhand, and is progressing into a fishing Captain to be reckoned with. Not only did he show up with already established sea legs, in his time off the boat, he’s a trained scuba diver. He’s no landlubber!! We bet you can guess who Captains our rated “Rrrrrr” trips.

Shana Harper isn’t seen on a boat very often, but she’ll be at the dock to help out the crew and greet our customers. She handles our bookings, customer contact, and makes our crew shirts and souvenir merchandise.  If you’ve ever called us, chances are you’ve talked to Shana!

If you want to get behind the reel, come see us and we will get ya “hooked up”!!
